On May 15th, 2021, a seminar on “the Learning and Education of Party’s History” was held at Room 204, South Teaching Building, UPC. The lecture was on the theme of “Modern value of May 4th Movement and mission of youth”, given by Zhang Yongning, Secretary of School Party Committee and hosted by Xu Danning, Party branch Secretary and an undergraduate majoring in Russian. Zou Weizhong, Deputy Secretary of School Party Committee, all counselors, Party members and League Members of the School participated in the lecture.
Zhang Yongning began with the encouragement from General Secretary Xi Jinping, who delivered it on an inspection to the youth at Tsinghua University. At the same time, Zhang pointed out the significance of the guiding principle from General Secretary Xi Jinping’s major speech series and thought highly of the ideological and political activities initiated by the foreign language corner (an activity held by the School of Foreign Studies open to the students of the UPC to improve their overall English skills).
Along the historical vein, Secretary Zhang Yongning told the story of the May 4th Movement in a humor, which represented the teachers and students profound understanding of the background, historical and modern value of the movement and specifying the mission of the modern youth.
With the quotation from Chairman Mao and General Secretary Xi Jinping, Zhang proposed that young students should carry on the great spirit of the May 4th Movement, be committed to the right direction of Chinese youth movements in the new era and contribute to the socialist undertakings to make great endeavors to realize the rejuvenation of Chinese nation.
According to the learning and education of Party’s history, teachers and students from School of Foreign Studies have made concerted efforts to convert their minds and seize the strategic opportunities so as to advance the major construction and talent cultivation and achieve quality results of the school. With the outstanding achievements, we will embrace the centenary of the founding of CPC.
