On April 29th, in order to commemorate the May Fourth Movement and carry forward its spirit, the School of Foreign Studies exhibited the May Fourth Movement Graphic Exhibition as one of the series of party history learning and education exhibitions in the School Cultural Corridor. Secretary of the School Party Committee, heads of various departments and representatives of teachers and students participated in the activity.
Secretary Zhang Yongning reviewed the magnificent history one hundred years ago with teachers and students. He said that the May Fourth Movement in May 1919 was a major historical event often mentioned by the Chinese. The reason why it has such a huge impact and can be remembered forever is because this event is unprecedented in modern China. At that time, the Chinese people showed patriotic enthusiasm that was rare in the world and the unremitting struggle for the pursuit of freedom of thought. Later, Zhang Yongning explained the origins of Qingdao and the May Fourth Movement, and explained the story about Qingdao May Fourth Square and the sculpture Wind of May.
After viewing the photo exhibition, teachers and students expressed their reflections: History is created by each generation, and it is created by all of us. Wang Xinfu, Party branch secretary of the General English Department, said that we should combine the personal future with the destiny of the country, integrate the May 4th spirit into the ideological and political classroom activities of the course, and build up the spiritual support and struggle power of the contemporary youth. The students who participated in the exhibition said: One hundred years ago, those passionate young people created their own history, initiated the May 4th spirit and changed the destiny of China. Therefore, contemporary college students should continue to carry forward the spirit of the May 4th Movement and integrate their personal struggles into the realization of the great Chinese dream.
It is reported that the May 4th Movement Graph Exhibition is the first exhibition in the series of Party history learning and education exhibitions of the School of Foreign Studies. In the future, the school will continue to carry out such kinds of activities.
