From love and persistence
Professor Luan Shuwen's love for the teaching originated from his career as a village teacher at the age of 17. Since then, he has been unable to give up his love for the Three feet of the rostrum. The national college entrance examination system was restored in 1977. In order to improve his professionalism, Professor Luan Shuwen signed up for the college entrance examination. Later, he was admitted to Shandong University with distinctions and chosen his favorite English major. In 1982, Professor Luan Shuwen graduated and came to China University of Petroleum to teach English, mainly engaged in college English teaching, teaching management, and Master's degree teaching in English language and literature.

Secondly, he has been educated by the Party for so many years. From the bottom of his heart, he loves work and dedication. He does not care how much the salary is, he likes to get along with his teachers and classmates.
Concentrate on research, and cultivate one's morality and study
Before retirement, Professor Luan Shuwen was concentrated on the research of teaching methods, constantly deepening the teaching reform, researching and exploring distinctive English teaching mode, and establishing a comprehensive college English teaching system. Under his leadership, the college English teaching of our school has always been at the forefront of Shandong Province and the whole country, and learning foreign languages continuously for four years has become a major teaching feature of our school.
As the academic leader, the College English course he is responsible for has always been the key course and high quality course of our school. Stay true to the mission and continue to build on progress.
In the afternoon of April 9th, the School of Foreign Studies invited professor Luan Shuwen to give a lecture entitled the construction of English professional knowledge system and the improvement of humanistic quality.
In view of the problem of how to improve the professional and humanistic quality of English majors, the professor put forward practical suggestions and based on his teaching experience. Firstly, attach importance to basic courses and strengthen the training of English professional skills. The basic course reflects the specialty's characteristic and the nature, and is the follow-up specialized course's foundation. English listening, speaking, reading, writing, translation and other comprehensive skills are mainly acquired through the learning and training of specialized basic courses, so the basic courses are particularly important.
Secondly, learn more relevant cultural courses to expand the connotation of language learning. Professor Luan Shuwen pointed out that English majors should cultivate talents to conduct cross-cultural communication in English, so it is necessary to learn about the social culture of English-speaking countries. To resolve the cultural differences between English and Chinese, to better use language as a carrier to spread the essence of Chinese culture, and to play the role of language bridge for foreign exchanges is the due meaning of English major.
In addition, Professor Luan suggested that students' critical thinking ability and innovative spirit should be cultivated. He believes that the current foreign language major students have problems such as immature ideological understanding and political awareness, short-term and realistic life goals, and unbalanced humanistic knowledge structure. Therefore, it is necessary to cultivate students' abilities on critical thinking, solving problems with humanistic methods, and combination of independent learning and cooperative learning. Put into practice the spirit of learning for learning and Tao for learning.
In the end, Professor Luan summed up and shared his understanding of life: people should not only do their own things well, but also do what they can for the society and others. Helping others should be advocated. Dedication should be thumbed up. My biggest achievement is not the honors or certificates I have won, but the heartfelt applause from my students after each lecture, Luan said. Love is a special moral code for teachers. Without love, there would be no education, Luan said. Professor Luan devoted his sincerest love to his students, and his heart was always connected with his students.
