In the morning of March 22, 2021, the leaders of the five Departments of Students Affairs came to the School of Foreign Languages to conduct research. Mao Haoran, Dean of the School of Foreign Studies, the secretary of the party committee, Zhang Yongning, Zou Weizhong, the deputy party secretary and all the counselors attended the survey meeting that was presided over by Yao Haitian, director of the Departments of Students Affairs of the Party Committee.
Dean Mao Haoran and Secretary Zhang Yongning extended a warm welcome to all the leaders of the five departments of student affairs, and expressed their heartfelt thanks to all the departments of the university for their support and guidance for the development and construction of the school. Steady progress has been made in the students’ work of the School of Foreign Studies with fruitful achievement scored. However, there are still some shortcomings. We hope that the heads of all departments can put forward more valuable suggestions. At the same time, we require the staff of the school to listen to the opinions and suggestions carefully, further improve the work level, and contribute to the overall improvement of talent training quality of the school and the cultivation of international foreign language talents.
Deputy Secretary Zou Weizhong made a comprehensive report on the development of student work in the school from six aspects: management system and operation mechanism, counselor team construction, league and college reform implementation, student evaluation, employment, military training and conscription. Counselors Mei Lin, Du Wenqian, Xiang Xinyu and Han Chenyu reported the problems in the research outline, and further reported the problems existing in the current work and the solutions.
The leaders of the five Departments of Student Affairs listened to the reports carefully, expressed their affirmation of the achievements made in the student work of the school, put forward questions and gave guidance and suggestions in the aspects that need to be improved, and hoped that the School of Foreign Studies would improve the quality of serving students in the future work, and train more interdisciplinary talents for the school.
The School of Foreign Studies will take this meeting as an opportunity to firmly grasp the fundamental task of moral education in student work, focus on primary responsibility and primary business, gather the force of education, and adhere to the working philosophy of “centering on students, caring for students, serving students and relying on students”. Focusing on the principle of guiding thinking through education, guiding behavior through management, and boosting development through service, we will form a student work model with multiple features and high results, give full play to the characteristics of our majors, and comprehensively cultivate foreign language talents of the new era with global vision and national feelings.
