On 19th March, our university held a large-scale on-campus job fair for 2021 graduates in spring. The number of enterprises and institutions that came to our university to recruit employees registered 596 with over 35,000 job opportunity attached. More than 3,000 graduates were attracted to apply for jobs. The job fair is the first major one to be held in 2021 and the largest in recent years. The secretary of the party committee, Zhang Yongning and Zou Weizhong, the Deputy attended and communicated with employers to introduce graduates’ performance of the School of Foreign Studies and to know employment requirements. Zhang Yongning, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Studies attended the Job Fair.
Not only seniors attended the double selection meeting to seek good employment opportunities, but also junior students came to the meeting to learn about the current employment situation and incorporate future employment direction into career planning, and attended a college career planning class. After that, the students had a clearer plan for their current study and future goals. “I have learned the importance of academic performance, excellent professional skills, certificates, work attitude and teamwork, so we need to plan our career well in advance, not only to learn professional knowledge, but also to improve our comprehensive abilities,” said Dili Nur, English 2001. According to Yao Bohan of Russian Class 2002, “The most important thing for employment is not what kind of jobs we find now, but what direction we are heading. From students to staff is a rapid role change, we do not expect to be able to show off our skills to do a big career. We cannot be high vision, but to be pragmatic, serious in our work. We should not focus on comparing with others in terms of employment. We should be down-to-earth and diligent and this is better than anything else. What’s more, we don’t seek blind employment. We should establish a correct employment concept and a correct value of life.”

Xu Danning, a graduate of class 1903, believes that, “through attending the Job Fair, the students understand the importance of becoming a complex talent. One can’t possess too much advantage only by relying on his major, as excellent students are all proficient in different kinds of areas. Good units and jobs don’t come by waiting for them but be obtained by hard working, thus, we need to have a certain ability to search information. In the information age, people who master the first-hand information will have the advanced opportunity”.
Dean Mao Haoran praised the reflections written by the students after they attended the double-selection meeting this time, which was also a good education for the workplace.
It provides a high-quality platform and more employment opportunities for the graduating students, and also helps the junior students to recognize the employment situation of their major and simulate the future recruitment experience. It is a unique career education.
