In order to strengthen the construction of talents and model courses, the School of Foreign Studies holds the first-class curriculum construction forum of Talent Cultivation Quality Engineering Year in south teaching building 107 in the afternoon of March 18. Deputy director Liu Zhen delivers the opening speech, in which she stressed that curriculum construction is the core element of the talent cultivation, and the cultivation of professional talents is inseparable from the construction of curriculum system. She expounds the importance from Ambitious Goal and Down to Earth, and points out that curriculum construction is the key to the realization of student-centered.

Professor Shi Yongjun shares the experience of first-class curriculum construction with Fundamentals of Mechanical Design as an example. He makes a profound interpretation of the curriculum construction from macro talent training and micro curriculum setting, and stresses that teachers should deeply keep pace with times, grasp the nature of our own curriculum, and add new features in process of curriculum construction. He appeals that we should keep pace with the trend, not drift with the tide. He highlights the leading role of the curriculum and shows the characteristics of the professional curriculum. In view of the first-class curriculum construction, Shi gives a further explanation that it is necessary to classify the construction, support featured courses, and constantly change and update the concept, and build a first-class undergraduate course based on the principles of improving the high-level, highlighting the innovation.

Shi gives detailed explanation and analysis on the basis of declaration requirements for curriculum construction. Many elements should be defined in the application form, such as course director, logic of course objectives and so on, so as to do well in organization and enhance the advantages of the declaration for curriculum construction. After the experience sharing, Shi answers the questions one by one to make the teachers clear about the methods of curriculum construction.
Professor Jiang Cuiyu of the School of Science shares the experience of curriculum construction from three aspects: requirements, preparation of application materials and personal experience. Jiang stresses that in the process of first-class curriculum construction, the goal is to make the curriculum better, teachers stronger, students more excellent, and management stricter and more effective. At the same time, the definition of first-class courses is introduced: breaking the dull state of classroom, invigorating the vitality of students, developing mixed courses, using appropriate digital teaching tools, combining online teaching with offline teaching organically, and giving full play to the role of the main position, main channel and main battlefield of classroom teaching. Teachers should fully understand the relevant requirements of undergraduate curriculum construction, prepare in advance and lay a good foundation for the curriculum construction and reform.

Professor Jiang Cuiyu stresses that in the evaluation of curriculum construction, more attention should be paid to the ideological and political construction, which should be appropriately concerned in accordance with the characteristics of the professional courses. Once again, she gives emphasis on many aspects, such as curriculum requirements, breadth and depth of curriculum construction and so on.
Jiang also suggests that the application form should reflect the solid foundation of the professional courses and the achievements of the reform and innovation of curriculum construction, and show the advantages of courses. “We are still on the way of curriculum construction. There is no best, only better , said Jiang Cuiyu.
Dean Mao Haoran delivers a closing speech. He expresses his sincere thanks to all professors for their wonderful sharing and summarizes his feelings: first, precise focus. Focus on innovation points of curriculum construction and the technical team of curriculum construction, so as to promote strengths and avoid weaknesses; second, excellent narration. Accurate data should be used on research; third, careful plan. Integrate overall strength of the team to build the strongest force of the school and promote the curriculum construction. He stresses the combination of online and face-to-face teaching, and the development of the second classroom.
