On 7th Mar, School of Foreign Studies held Smile’s Day meeting ( The First Meeting ) and Alumni Face-to-Face ( First in 2021 ) at 346 of Art and Science building.
The topic of this sharing meeting is Seeing Her, Closer to the Star of Beauty.
This Meeting invited the Star of Beauty - Ren Jiaoyan from the grade of 2000, English major, the Star of Beauty - Mao Shumei from class 2001, English major and the Star of Beauty - Xu Ying from class 2003, English major, for sharing their experience.
Li Xiaoxue of class2002, English major, served as a host, Du Wenqian, the secretary of Youth League Committee of School of Foreign Studies, teachers and students participated in this meeting.
Focusing on the problem of whether students should have a clear plan for their future, Ren Jiaoyan said that, we have to look into ourselves and make ourselves develop.
Looking into the self is also a process of developing on one’s own.
In this process, one has to not only develop into someone other expected to see, but to find out what oneself really wants. One has to find out a clear working direction and stick to it to make oneself develop.
In the meantime, Ren also pointed out that, one has to go out of their comfort zone to embrace new challenges.
Ren used to work as an Assistant General Manager and Director of Human Resources in Qingdao Zhiteng Technology Co., Ltd. Yet now, she is pursuing her career in the financial industry.
Though she clearly knows that, things will not go well, she did not become the man in the case in Chekhov’s novel. She bravely broke the case and forgot everything she ever knew about one industry.
Ren said that, one has to hold a goal in short term and it will change in the long term. It’s important to treat others with tolerance as only in this way things will work out in the end.
“Youth and dream, these are the only two things one can never fail”, Ren said, “You have to do something you really like and good at, not something others expected you to do. This is the only way to success.
Ren emphasized that, one has to respect others and be self-dependent. The former represents the manner one has and the latter one is the prerequisite of whether or not one is worth being respected.
In relationships, respecting others will make this relationship more balanced and decrease the friction.
One has to be self-independent, not only materially but also mentally and be clearly aware of one’s life value,
In the Q&A session, for the question about how to go out of the comfort zone proposed by students, Ren said that, firstly, one has to be fully-prepared. Doing something actively rather than doing something passively after setbacks.
Secondly, you have to have a power which can help you break the current situation and change the current thinking patterns. Changing is hard indeed. But if you have the determination to change, you will success.
Mao Shumei shared her personal experiences with everyone.
During her sharing, students became much more clearly aware of the ability which language talents have to equip, that is, the interpersonal ability and the integral working ability, apart from the specialized knowledge.
They learned that, one has to assess oneself and sets a clear path about one’s future.
Therefore, Mao shared her employment experience about how she decided to devote herself into the petroleum industry to pursue her dream life, even though she is specially limited.
In the job pursuing process, she both lost and gained something. She enjoyed frustration and embraced uncertainty just in order to confirm her choice.
In the Q&A session, Mao pointed out where the advantages of female university students lie - Females not only have better learning abilities but also have better communicating and empathy ability.
Xu Ying has the answers to questions about how hard to start a business and how to survive the hard times.
It’s easier to take the initiatives than passively accept.
During her studies abroad in America, Xu Ying strived for working opportunities. She moved the interviewers with her sincerity. After five rounds of interviews, Xu got the job in the end.
As an old saying goes, “Constant grinding turns an iron rod into a needle.” At the beginning of her business, faced with questions from her family, Xu didn’t give up but rather stuck to her goal and persisted.
Xu pointed out that, nothing can’t be done in you insist. In the last Q&A session, Xu emphasized that starting a business needs not only capital, time and energy, the most important thing is a strong will.
In this sharing meeting, though sharing their working and studying experiences, three stars of beauty showed the abilities and charisma they have as women. Seeking beauty is thinking and finding the great power embodied by women.
