Recently, Approval for the Identification of Research Centers for Exchange and Cooperation between Shandong Province and Specific Countries or Regions announced by Shandong Provincial Department of Education and Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government identified 34 centers as candidates for exchange and cooperation between Shandong Province and specific countries or regions, among them, the “Research Center for Exchange and Cooperation Between Shandong Province and Canada” declared by Zhou Peng, professor of School of Economics and Management and the “Research Center for Exchanges and Cooperation between Shandong Province and Russian-speaking Countries Along B&R Region” declared by Sun Daman, professor of School of Foreign Studies have been approved for cultivation.
Facing the strategic demand of high quality development of education, focusing on the study of Canadian educational policy and personnel training system, guided by the construction of new arts and supported by the reform and innovation of international talent training system and mechanism, the “Research Center for Exchange and Cooperation Between Shandong Province and Canada” aims to build a talent pool, a database and a high-end think-tank for the research on Canadian education related issues. The center will integrate multidisciplinary research team in our school, related scholars in Shandong province and Canada as well as other research strength to conduct specific research on Canadian education system and personnel training system, education-related laws, education and teaching concepts, educational and teaching reform methods, economic management of education industry, China-Canada energy cooperation and international personnel training.
The “Research Center for Exchanges and Cooperation Between Shandong Province and Russian-speaking Countries Along B&R Region” will utilize the advantages and characteristics of the cooperation between our university and the energy universities in the Russian-speaking countries along B&R region to promote the cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, strengthen the construction of the think tank for educational cooperation and exchange, and boost the construction of the university’s double first-class construction. By gathering the efforts both from scholars in our university and in Russian-speaking countries along B&R area, the center will further study the education system, education-related laws, education and teaching concepts, teaching characteristic and advantages, the relationship between education and economic and social development, as well as literature, culture, art, sinology, etc of the Russian-speaking countries along B&R. The center will build a platform for educational exchange and cooperation between Shandong Province and Russian-speaking countries along B&R, and put forward suggestions and countermeasures, providing consulting services for the province’s opening up.
The establishment of research centers for exchanges and cooperation between Shandong Province and specific countries or regions is of great significance to improve scientific decision-making and policy accuracy of the international exchanges and cooperation of ShanDong, and to boost the opening up of Shandong education. After one-year cultivation, the “Shandong Province and a Certain Country or Region Exchange and Cooperation Research Center” will be determined from the candidate units in terms of the reported research results, the quality and impact of the activities, etc., and then listed.
