The 5th International Youth Summit of SCO University, hosted by Belgorod State University (BSU) of Russia, opens at 10 A.M. (MSK) on November 17th, 2020. Considering the ongoing COVID-19 epidemic, the summit takes the form of online video conference. Over 400 specialists, scholars, and representatives of teachers and students from 32 universities in countries like China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and India attend the Summit. Conferees probe into cooperation in realms of politics, economy, science, culture and education. 19 postgraduates from School of Foreign Studies of UPC, majoring in Russian, participate in the Summit with their papers.
The president of BSU, Полухин Олег Николаевич, welcomes all participants with gratitude, and introduces the history and current achievements of BSU. He points out that “SCO plays a significant role in realms of academic research, science and technology, as well as in young entrepreneurship, cultural exchanges, and strengthening mutual trust and good-neighborly relations among the people of SCO countries.”

More than 10 representatives deliver speeches in the next session, including Cao Shihai, Minister-Counselor of Embassy of China in Russia, Денис Кравченко, Vice Chairman of the Committee on Economy Policy, Industry and Innovation Development under Russian State Duma, Елена Дружинина, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science, Алексей Любцов, Director of the Youth Talent Resources Center. They all indicate that “Youth is playing an increasingly important role in world changes and technological innovation. Therefore, all SCO Countries should provide momentum for youth development, strengthen cooperation in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship, and create a platform for mutual learning.”

The Summit possesses two topics: “Education, Science and Innovation”, and “Contemporary University Students: Volunteering, Prevention of Terrorism and Extremism, and Information Security”. 22 Representatives post presentations in this session. Xu Danning from SFS UPC, presents Volunteering is an Effective Tool for Prevention of Extremism in Modern Society, and Zhang Jiao presents Development Status Quo of China’s Online Education Under the Impact of COVID-19.
