On September 17, Youth Forum of the series of lectures on foreign language researches was held in the conference room 346 of the Wenli Building in order to create a strong academic research atmosphere, give full play to the positive role of foreign language teachers with doctoral degree, encourage foreign language teachers with master’s degree to study together and solve real problems, conduct beneficial academic exchanges, and improve the academic literacy ofour teachers. This forum was presided over by Professor Guo Yueqin, Deputy Dean of the school, Jin Yujie, director of Arts Construction Office of Science and Technology Department, Dr. Cui Wei, Professor Mao Haoran, Head of School of Foreign Studies, Researcher Zhang Yongning, Secretary of the School Committee of the CPC and Associate Professor Han Shuqin, Deputy Dean of the school and some school teachers attended this forum.
In the opening speech, Dean Mao hoped that the forum would exist in the form of serialization and normalization in the future, become a platform that could drive the enthusiasm of the college teachers in academic researchand help the development of liberal arts research in the University, a platform for the gathering and exchange of academic celebrities in our university even Qingdao. Professor Guo Yueqin introduced the agenda of the forum, and pointed out that we should strive to run the forum well and help teachers in scientific research with the support and expectation of the university andthe school.
Dr. Cui Wei introduced the application of Humanities and Social Sciences projects of our university in detail, including National Social Science Project, National Educational Science Planning Project, Ministry of Education projects, and so on. Then Dr. Cui introduced the application time and matters needing attention, encouraging teachers to establish academic self-confidence and apply for high-level projects more.
The participating teachers actively put forward suggestions for the forum. They hoped that the forum could be planned and held in a fixed time and frequency according to the theme and different directions. They also hoped that the forum could actively integrate the academic resources of relevant majors inside and outside the university, and adopt the way of online to office.
Dean Mao hoped that teachers would carefully sort out all kinds of foreign language programs at all levels and actively apply for high-level social science projects. He also said that the forum could give postgraduates opportunities to participate in the follow-up activities, so as to form an academic platform jointly built by teachers and students. Jin Yujie, director ofArts Construction Office, said that in the new physical space of our school, teachers will certainly be able to stimulate their enthusiasm for scientific research from the source, and the Office will give strong support technically. Deputy Dean Guo Yueqin thanks the Office and the leaders of the school for their concern and support.She announced that every Thursday afternoon would be the forum time, and the special session on linguistics and literature would be held alternately. That will provide a large-scale and multi-disciplinary academic exchange platform for all teachers as a way of promoting the development of scientific research in the school, broadening the academic vision of our teachers, and absorbing the perspectives of academic talents from other universities in Qingdao, so as to contribute to the local cultural construction of Qingdao.
