The School of Foreign Studies Held the NECCS Tutors’ Meeting

        On the morning of July 30th, the School of Foreign Studies held the NECCS (National English Contest for College Students) tutors’ meeting. Wang Xinbo, deputy head of the School of Foreign Studies, presided this meeting. Zhang Qi, Xu Yanyan, Pan Lixia and Sun Jiping, Zhang Liang and Chen Chunhui attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on how to conduct a large-scale online tutoring about the contest. Zhangliang, director of Liberal Arts Experiment and Service Center, gave a detailed explanation and arrangement on the counseling plan, course plan, labor division, etc. The tutors put forward suggestions on the form and content of tutoring, the promotion of teaching and research by competition, pre-competition mobilization, intra-school linkage, and guarantee operation. Wang Xinbo gave explanations on this large-scale online tutoring, requiring the tutoring team to raise brand awareness, cultivate lofty values in students, and remain committed to high-quality teaching, so that the talent training can deliver real benefits and the school’s influence can reach far. This online tutoring is also an attempt to innovate teaching.

The tutoring lasts eight weeks, from August 10 to October 10. The tutored include graduate students (level A), English majors undergraduates (level B) and non-English majors undergraduates (level C).

As the only comprehensive English ability competition for college students approved by the Ministry of Education, the National English Contest for College Students is one of the national discipline competitions well recognized by our university. This year’s 22nd National College English Contest is jointly organized by the International Association of Teachers of Foreign Languages, China Association of Teachers of Foreign Languages, and the College Foreign Language Teaching Research Association, and is sponsored by the English Tutoring Newspaper Office and the Test and Evaluation Magazine. The preliminaries and finals will be held on October 25, 2020 and November 22, 2020 respectively. The exact date for grand final is uncertain.
