On the afternoon of the 13th, the School of Foreign Studies held a seminar in the Conference Room 358. Leaders and some professors from the School attended the meeting. In accordance with the relevant requirements of the Ministry of Education and Shandong Provincial Department of Education for the construction of the first-class undergraduate majors, the group decided to actively apply for the construction of the first-class majors. The attendees discussed about how to strengthen the construction of specialty connotation and improve the overall level of the construction of English and Russian majors.
The head of the department of Russian Language combed the basic situation of the major, the employment and enrollment of graduates in the past three years, the awards received from the province or above in the past five years, the historical evolution and advantages of the major, reform measures and achievements, and improvement of the faculty’s professional competence. Then she put forward some suggestions as to the major construction and reform.
Teachers from the English department analyzed the basic situation, the construction objectives, the tasks and measures for further construction, the future construction arrangements and expectations.
All attendees put forward valuable suggestions based on the report by the two departments. The school summarized the major construction in the previous stage and further clarified the guidelines, which would play a positive role in promoting the major construction in the future.
