The 14th English Speech Competition of Colleges and Universities in Qingdao was hosted by Qingdao University of Science and Technology on 22nd, December. This year, 16 contestants from 8 schools took part in the competition. After the fierce competition: the first round of prepared speech— the Ocean, the second round of impromptu speech, and the third round of British parliamentary debates, these contestants improved their ability of oral expression and language application. Two students, Tao Sirui from College of Arts majoring in English and Guo Xinran from School of Economics and Management majoring in International Economics and Trade, attended the competition on behalf of UPC and won the second and third prize respectively.
The two contestants made good performance in the previous primary contest of our university. Instructors, Cao Yandai and Chen Chunhui, helped the contestants a lot on the revision of the speech and the pre-competition training. For me, it is a valuable opportunity to learn and to know many outstanding students, and I realize that I still need to work harder. said Tao. The competition has gone through 13 years. With the joint efforts of colleges and universities in Qingdao, it shows a growing regional impact and has become one of the most influential English speech competitions in Qingdao.
Founded in 2005, it is the highest level English speech competition of colleges and universities in Qingdao. It is co-founded by 8 colleges and universities: China University of Petroleum (East China), Ocean University of China, Qingdao University, Qingdao University of Technology, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Shandong University of Science and Technology, Qingdao Agricultural University, and Navy Submarine Academy.
