Student from Russian Major Won the Third Prize in 2018 National Russian Competition for College Students

From Oct. 26th to 28th,the 2018 National Russian Competition for College Students was held atShanghai International Studies University.Four contestants from Russian major of College of Arts attended the competition. They are from the lower grades (Grade one or two), the senior group (three or four grade undergraduate) and the postgraduate group. The competition was divided into three sessions:preliminary, semi-final and final.After thetough competition, Shang Fengtao, from 2015 Russian major won the third prize of the senior group.

The National Russian Competition is a mechanized project within the humanities cooperation framework between China and Russia, which is sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education.It is the highest level of competition in the Russian major and has been held for 10 consecutive terms since 2008. The competition has made clear restrictions on the contestantnumberaccording to the scale of each college and has changed the competition process from preliminary and rematch to preliminary, semi-final and final,the difficulty of which has increased dramatically. 349 undergraduates and postgraduates from 147 universities across the country participated in the competition. The award-winning students will be fully funded by the China Scholarship Council to study or study for a degreein Russia.

The Russian department began to prepare for the 2018 National Russian competitionfor College Students since December, 2017.The achievements in this competition represents the joint efforts of all teachers and students,fully demonstrating the excellent professional quality and high standard of cross-cultural communicative competence of Russian majors. Unitl 2018, a total of 7 students from Russian majors won the prize in this competition, and they all benefited a lot. Shang Fengtao said: “I am glad to participate in such a competition with high standard. The process of preparing for the game is particularly difficult, but all the effort is worth it.” Zhou Zhaoting said: “By participating in this competition, I found my own shortcomings.In the future study, I will stay firmly on my goal, learn with humility and move forward.”
