Senior Diplomatic Translation Expert Chen Mingming Hired as an Adjunct Professor

Mr. Chen Mingming, vice president of Translators Association of China, was hired as an adjunct professor of the College of Arts. The appointment ceremony was held in the lecture hall on the first floor of Yifu Building on October 8th. Zhang Lingling, Vice President of UPC, presented the letter of appointment to Mr. Chen on behalf of the university, while Wang Xuedong, the dean of College of Arts presided over the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Wang Xuedong highly praised Mr. Chen’s outstanding achievements in the field of diplomatic translation, delivered a detailed introduction of him and expressed his gratitude to Chen for accepting the invitation. Wang expressed his hope that Chen could exert his professional (practice and theoretical) advantages and participate in the construction of Foreign Language and Literature as well as MTI disciplines. Being happy to be a member of UPC, Chen said that he would give full play to his special advantages and contribute to corresponding disciplines development in the future.

Chen Mingming, foreign language expert of Chinese Foreign Ministry and avice president of Translators Association of China. He once has served as the interpreter for Deng Xiaoping and other Chinese leaders in the 1980s, been a deputy director of the US Department and the director of the translation department of Chinese Foreign Ministry, also been the Chinese ambassador to New Zealand, Cook Islands and Sweden. In the past ten years, he was responsible for the finalization of the English version of the report of the 18th and the 19th National Congress as well as the government work report. Moreover, he participated in the final English draft of Xi Jinping’s Talks on Governing the Country (Volume 1), and was in charge of the English finalization of the speech by President Xi Jinping for more than five years.
