Alumni of College of Arts Reunited to UPC 65th Anniversary

In the golden autumn season, China University of Petroleum ushers in the 65th Anniversary of its founding on October 2nd.With the holding of an Inheritance, Innovation and Development-themed Celebration Conference, various activities were carried out smoothly. Alumni of our universityreturnedto UPC from all over the country and gathered together to celebrate the 65th birthday of alma mater.

The College of Arts attached great importance to this alumni back-to-school activity,and expressed warm welcome to the homecoming alumni. A college cultural corridor was built up elaborately,providing a comprehensive review of the history, the struggling and the achievements of our university, which contained sectors of Historical Evolution, Development History, Successive Leadership, EducationalReform, Teaching Staff, Scientific Research, Party Building Work, Campus Culture, Academic Exchange as well asInternational Cooperation, Social Services,Student Work and so on. It is worth mentioning that there were two propagandascreens in the cultural corridor, which playeda video of the school history andshowed photos of the graduates with multimedia. With moving footage and vivid pictures, the cultural corridor attract evaryont’s eyes and leading them back to schooldays. “I am like a protagonist in time-travel dramas, and return to ten years ago.”, one of them praised. After appreciating the cultural corridor, the Vice-President Zhang Lingling,leaders of relevant departments and some retiredteachers all spoke highly of it.

At four o’clock in the afternoon, the alumni of Law Major of Grade 2004took a group photo with their teachers in front of the statue of sun goddess(a landmark building of UPC), leaving a souvenir for their ten-year reunion. Later, the alumni visited the moot court and legal clinic of the college. Tracing back to earlier years, feelings welled up in everyone’s mind: “I cant believe the school has changed so much during this ten years. The environment is much better than before. I really want go back and study again.” After that, a symposium was held in Room 358 of Art and Science Building. During the meeting, the alumni gave the teachers their prepared bouquet to express their nostalgia and gratitude. When talking about this celebration, everyone had the same feeling, “No matter how far away from our university, no matter how busy we are, we’ll come back to alma mater and meet our classmates and old friends.” Then, Wang Xuedong, dean of the College of Arts, delivered a speech to express a warm welcome and briefly introduced the development and prospect of the college. He said that the alumni have started their own business in their positions, and our college is proud of their achievements. He also hoped that the alumni will continue tosupport and fuel the development of the college.
