Student of UPC Won the First Prize in the Junior Singing Contest

The Junior Singing Contest Final was held in Jinan, Shandong Province, 31th Mar 2018. Chen Yu, the 2015 undergraduate of Music major from College of Arts, won the first prize of belcanto professional group. Zhang Nan, the instructor, was awarded Excellent Instructor Prize.

Since the beginning of this contest at early 2018, contestants from universities, professional art troupe, enterprises, and public institutions in 17 cities of Shandong Province as well as contestants from other provinces have actively taken part in the competition. On 31th Mar, more than 300 contestants from all over the country gathered in Jinan to compete in belcanto professional contest. Chen Yu sang the “salace salace” aria (from Singspiel “Othello”) in Italian which received praises from all experts and gained the top score of the contest.

Junior Singing Contest in Shandong Province began from 2000, Co-hosted by musician association and Qilu Evening News, which is known as the brand event with the longest lasting time, the most significant influence and popularity, and most professional authority enjoyed among teenagers in Shandong Province. For over a decade, it has provided the professional platform to exchange, study and improvement for junior musicians and amateurs.
