President Hao Fang inspected the College of Art on the morning of February 24th, accompanied by vice-presidents Li Zhaomin, Liu Huadong and directors of Party Committee Publicity Department, Science & Technology Department and Department of Personnel.
President Hao and his entourage visited laboratories such as simultaneous interpretation laboratory, law-clinic laboratory and mimic court.Then they held an informal discussion with college faculty deputies including cadres, professors, directors in charge of research projects and young teachers.
Vice-president Li Zhaomin said they came here to solicit opinions for the development of our college. Exactly, they would like to knowstatus quo of our college, like team construction, our advantages and disadvantages compared with similar-level institutes at home and abroad, existing problems and next working orientation.
Professor Wang Shuting, Dean of College of Art gave a detailed report from four aspects including basic introduction, status quo, main problems and relevant suggestions. Dean Wang pointed out that within the context of “dual-flow construction”, our college is striving to transform from teaching-centred college to teaching-research-oriented college, with teaching reform, discipline construction and team building as the key link. Using teaching is also academic research as an initiative, he encouraged teachers to commit themselves to teaching reform and scientific studies,in this way having our academic valuesrealized and our academic level steadily improved.
Professor Zhang Yongning, Party secretary, reported our work in Party construction. According to him, our college is making efforts to forge a brand in creating entrepreneurial climate and optimizing campus culture.
Other participants came up with suggestions on issues like talent recruitment, teacher assessment system, college-English reform, title assessment, job duties, academic ecology and other aspects.
Listening, taking notes and asking questions from time to time, President Hao conducted an in-depth exchanges with teachers, pointing out that university encourages free talking of views in order to boosterour development.
