The military training for the 2015 freshmen has finished.
This year, the military training has lasted nineteen days. In these days, students have experienced the formation drill, policing the barracks, marching, and so on. With unremitting efforts, the freshmen of College of Arts won the first prize for three times and the second for once in four activities held by the training brigade. What’s more, they were also elected as the only model group of parade guards, and one company won the honor of “Excellent Company”.
The mobilization meeting for the 2015 freshmen was held ceremoniously in the university stadium on Sept. 9th. Yang Maochun, the Vice Secretary of Party Committee and Secretary of Committee for Disciplinary Inspection; Wang Huai, the brigadier of training brigade and a major of 71977 army, the leading group in charge of the military training, leaders of colleges and departments attended the meeting.
Students of College of Arts were registered as the tenth corp and were divided into the 30th and 31th company. Every day, the training starts with 40 minutes’ morning exercises at 6 o’clock. The basic training is from 7:20 am to 11:20 am, and 2:20pm to 6:20pm. From 7:00 pm in the evening, students would practice singing.
Apart from the basic military training, a series programs and activities were held, including psychological education, precaution lecture about AIDS and tuberculosis, lectures about first aid and “Save yourself”, fire drill, safety education, essay writing competitions, blackboard competition, singing contest. Students of College of Arts won the first prize in the singing contest.
On Sept. 11th, students had their indoor training. They were instructed how to keep their rooms clean, neat and in order.
Marching is a kind of training feature in UPC as well as one of the most expected program for freshmen. Through the marching, students have not only improved their physical health, but also strengthened their friendship.
On September 26th,the army parade was held in the stadium in the morning. Representatives of female army from College of Arts were inspected by school authorities and military brigade.
The military training is the first lesson in university for freshmen. It is the right way to develop their sense of collective honor. The normal college life begins after the military training. Thanks to the mutual efforts by all instructors and counselor, the freshmen have made a satisfying result.
